The images here are a selection from two weeks in northern Tanzania in August 2016.

This trip was spent in well-known destinations we have visited on multiple occasions in the past. We started in Tarangire National Park, one of my favorite places in Africa, passed through the Ngorongoro Highlands and Ngorongoro Crater, and finished in the north of Serengeti on the Mara River just south of the Kenya border.

The primary goal was to see again the great wildebeest and zebra migration, which is at its peak in northern Serengeti and the adjoining Maasai Mara of Kenya at the end of summer. This year, the wildebeest were moving back and forth across the river in search of fresh grass, some herds headed north toward Kenya and others moving back toward the south. As a result, there were many river crossings, photographs of which dominate the small selection of images here.
